In the late 1960s, a small group of San Jose State University
students started a Friday night Bible study. The San Jose
Chinese Bible Study Group, overseas students mostly in their
early twenties, eventually evolved into a church. The first
worship service was held on a Sunday afternoon in February 1971
with about 30 believers.
Within ten years, this congregation
grew to several hundred. In 1982, CCIC Mountain View was
established. A third congregation, CCIC North Valley (Milpitas),
was planted in 1987. A fourth, CCIC South Valley (South San
Jose), was started in 1992. The original church moved from its
building on Newport Avenue to the current location on Saratoga
Avenue in 1993. Though these four CCIC congregations are
administratively and financially independent, they maintain
close fellowship ties with each other. |
